Sailing is one of Burnham's most popular pastimes. If you are a budding Sailor and looking for tuition there are a number of schools based at the marina. Alternatively you may wish to take advantage of the local ferry service which runs for Easter and then from Whitsun through to the end of September with regular wildlife trips to see the local seals! There are also beautiful riverside walks and many picturesque houses and cottages along the quayside.

Bradwell-on-Sea is just a short drive away which hosts a beautiful chapel called St Peters that is steeped in history having originally been a Roman fort and restored in 653 by St Cedd. Also close by is Maldon, one of the oldest towns in Essex. It is the home port to the historic Thames Barges which are available for charter, Maldon also has an indoor swimming pool and Bowling alley.

Burnham-on-Crouch has great rail links to the famous Essex resort of Southend-on-Sea which hosts the longest pier in the world built in 1889. Burnham also has the advantage of being just an hour away by train from Liverpool Street Station in London, where you can spend a day enjoying the famous sights, or, maybe relax and experience one of the many musicals or plays in the numerous theatres.
